Tidy Bookmarks

This browser extension sorts your bookmarks into folders and gathers duplicates and dead links for you to review. In short: everything happens inside your browser. Nothing is sent to us.

What it reads and changes

Your bookmarks, only when you open it and press Preview. It changes them only when you press Apply, and first downloads a backup file of all your bookmarks to your computer. It never deletes a bookmark: duplicates and dead links are moved to folders for you to review.

Dead link check (optional)

If you tick "Also look for dead links", Chrome asks you to allow the extension to visit websites. It then requests each bookmarked address once to see whether the page still exists. Those requests go only to the websites in your bookmarks, without your cookies. The permission is not used for anything else.

What it does not do

It does not collect, store, send or sell your bookmarks, browsing history or any personal information.
It has no analytics, tracking, adverts or accounts, and no server of ours is involved.

Permissions

Bookmarks: to read and move your bookmarks.
Access to websites (optional, asked for only if you choose the dead link check): to see whether bookmarked pages still exist.
